Cong dares govt to file case against TSR on mining tirade

TSR reaction sheer ‘Premchand’ arrogance: Harish Rawat
PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
With the former chief minister and Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat having stirred up a hornet’s nest through his highly critical observation about the State government on rampant illegal mining in Uttarakhand in the Lok Sabha, the State Congress has seized the festering issue and taken pot-shots at both TSR and the State government.
Leading the party’s fireworks, the State Congress patriarch Harish Rawat slammed TSR for his diatribe against an officer of State government, observing sarcastically that it was Premchand part-2. “It smacks of sheer arrogance discernible in the present band of BJP leaders ,” he quipped.
Notably, asked to comment on the statement of Secretary, Revenue, Brijesh Sant that no illegal mining is going on in the State, the former CM had told media persons that he could not stoop that low to comment and then added acidly, ‘ Sher Kutton Ka Shikar Nahi Karte Hain ( Lion does not hunt dogs)’.
Thereafter, latching on to the same issue, the State Congress spokesperson Garima Mehra Dasauni dared the State government to file a case against TSR. “If it is convinced that what the MP said in Lok Sabha is incorrect and misleading, it should have filed a case against him instead of having goaded an officer to refute TSR’s allegation,” she said. In the same breath, she tore into TSR, saying that he should not have resorted to such vituperation against a government officer.
