The Uttarakhand Congress strongly objected to the BJP State unit’s allegation that the decision of the INDIA alliance to boycott the shows hosted by some news anchors is an attack on the freedom of the press. The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress, Garima Dasauni said that it is the democratic right of the opposition to decide which programme it will attend and which it will not. She said that there is nothing wrong in the boycott of some journalists who never ask questions from those who are in power. The opposition has not stopped these anchors from speaking, conducting programmes and not imposed any restrictions on them.
She said that the BJP State media in-charge should remember that the documentary released by BBC on Godhra was forcibly removed from the YouTube and cases were registered on the universities where this documentary was shown. She said that in the last nine years the BJP has not only boycotted some journalists but was responsible for their removal from their jobs. Dasauni said that the BJP should answer why Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not addressed a single press conference in the last nine years. She claimed that the decision of the INDIA alliance to boycott some journalists is a positive step in the direction of making a hatred-free India.
