Cong launches ‘Dhanyawad Jawan’ campaign

PCC president plans to visit the houses of soldiers in next two months

On the occasion of Vijay Diwas the Uttarakhand Congress launched a ‘ Dhanyawad Jawan’ campaign on Wednesday. The objective of the campaign is to express gratitude to the armed forces personnel and reach out to their families. The party also launched a Whatsapp number 7669643999 for the families of the soldiers. Launching the campaign the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh said, “We have launched the number to reach out to the families of armed forces personnel and know their grievances. The families can share their issues and suggestions and we will provide every possible help to them. When our government is formed in the state we will take necessary steps on the suggestions. We will stand by the families of our soldiers who are guarding our borders,’’ he quipped. The PCC president said that people of Uttarakhand have been at forefront in serving the nation and someone from every third family in the state is in armed forces or Para military force. He remembered the contribution of the soldiers of the state in the 1971 war with Pakistan. Singh added that a total of 1343 armed forces personnel of Uttarakhand have been awarded gallantry medals which include one Pramavir Chakra, six Ashok Chakras, 13 Mahavir Chakra and 32 Kirti Chakras.  He said that he would try to visit every soldier’s house in the next two months and take appropriate steps to solve the issues and problems faced by the families of soldiers.

The PCC president also honoured some of the ex servicemen on the occasion.

The Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana, the chairperson of SC cell of the party Rajkumar, Lt General ( Retd) M C Badhani, Brigadier ( Rtd) K G Behl, Mahanagar Congress President Lal Chand Sharma and others were present on the occasion.
