Uttarakhand Congress objected to the live telecast of the proceedings of the first day of the monsoon session of the Assembly in which tributes were paid to the late cabinet minister Chandan Ram Dass on the day of voting of Bageshwar by-election. A delegation of the State Congress led by the vice president ( Organisation) Mathura Dutt Joshi met the chief electoral officer of Uttarakhand V Shanmugam in his office on Tuesday to register the protest of the Congress party. In the complaint the party said that the condolences were paid to the late Chandan Ram Dass in Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday and its live telecast was shown by TV channels. The Congress leaders said that the telecast was done when voting for the Bageshway by-election was in progress. Joshi said that it appears as if live telecast of the condolences expressed by members of the house was a deliberate ploy to garner benefit in the Bageshwar by-election. Parvati Dass, the widow of Chandan Ram Dass is the candidate of BJP in Bageshwar by election. In another complaint to the EC, the Congress delegation said that full page advertisements of the BJP candidate Parvati Dass were carried in prominent newspapers (Kumaon edition) which is a clear violation of the model code of conduct (MCC). The delegation requested the CEO to take cognisance of both the incidents and take necessary action.
