Cong pays tributes to GB Pant on death anniversary

Rich tributes were paid to Govind Ballabh Pant on his death anniversary by the leaders of Uttarakhand Congress at the party office on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion the general secretary organisation of Uttarakhand Congress, Vijay Saraswat said that Pant started his social and political life through the Kumaon Parishad in the third century of the 20th century. He had a great understanding of the abject poverty in the mountainous parts, Coolie Begar system and other social evils of the time and fought against them. Saraswat said that after independence Pant served Uttar Pradesh and the country for twenty years. Pant served as the chief minister of UP and was home minister of the country. He said that the name of Pant would remain etched in the history of the country for the role he played in the freedom struggle.
Elaborating at length on the lives and works of Pant, the chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni said that a great personality like Pant would always remain a source of inspiration for the society.
The president of Mahanagar Congress, Jaswinder Singh Gogi exhorted the party workers to follow the ideals of Pant. Large number of party leaders and workers offered floral tributes to the late leader on the occasion.
