On Wednesday senior leaders of the party remained huddled up at Rajiv Bhawan here for chalking out the strategy of the party for protests on these issues. Taking cue from the success of the Kisan Mahapanchayats being organised in different states, the party has also decided to hold a ‘Kisan Sammelan’ in Udham Singh Nagar district on February 25.
The party leaders also agreed to hold Padh Yatras in all block and district headquarters on February 20 and 22. The party had earlier decided to hold foot marches ( Padh Yatras) in all parts of the state on February 15 but suspended its plan in the wake of the Chamoli disaster. He said that the government has broken the back of the general public which was already reeling under the effect of Covid-19 pandemic. Singh said that everything including the food grains, cooking gas, petrol and diesel and edible oil have become costlier hitting the people hard. The LoP Indira Hridayesh said that the policies of the union and state governments are grossly anti people. She added that the Congress party would corner the government on price rise and other issues of public interest in the upcoming session of Uttarakhand assembly to seek its reply.
Informing about the protest plans of the party, Dhasmana said that the party would organise a series of protests on the issues of the rising prices and three draconian farm acts. He said that Padh Yatras in all the district headquarters would be organised on February 20 while on February 22 the Padh Yatras would be organised in all the block headquarters.
