The former deputy chief minister of Rajasthan and senior leader of Congress party Sachin Pilot said that it is a pity that not even a single leader of BJP has said anything about spiralling prices even though the general public is reeling under it. He said that the people of Uttarakhand have made up their mind to bring the Congress party to power in the state. Pilot was interacting with the media persons here on Monday after releasing a white paper of the Congress party on price rise.
He said that the people of Uttarakhand have failed to understand why BJP changed two chief ministers and installed a third one as CM which brought instability in the state. The Congress leader claimed that Uttarakhand is ranked number one in the country in price rise as it has 30 per cent more prices than the rest of the country. He claimed that the BJP leaders have understood that the party is facing defeats in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand due to which about a dozen MLA including ministers have left the party recently. Launching an attack on the BJP for bringing hardships to the farmers, Pilot said that the Modi government is responsible for the death of 700 farmers. He claimed that the electoral reverses in the bye elections forced the government to roll back three draconian farm bills but the government is still toying about bringing them back. Pilot said that the Modi government has handed over everything to few industrialists and the wedge between the poor and rich is increasing.
The national spokesman of the Congress party Gaurav Vallabh said that in the last seven years the Modi government has looted Rs 24 lakh crore from the people by increasing excise duty on diesel and petrol. He said that excise duty on petrol and diesel was Rs 9.48 and Rs 3.58 respectively in 2014 which has now increased to Rs 32.90 and Rs 31.80. Giving a comparative account of edible items, cooking gas and vegetables Vallabh said that the prices of everything have become more than double in the BJP rule.
