Uttarakhand Congress has demanded strict legal action against those responsible for misbehaving with the ex- servicemen in a programme organised by the BJP. The spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress, Garima Dasauni said that armed forces veterans were not only pushed out from a programme of BJP in Dehradun on Tuesday but also treated with expletives. Terming the incident as unfortunate, Dasauni said that the Congress party is standing with the ex servicemen. She said that intoxicated by the power, the BJP has probably forgotten that Uttarakhand is a State of families of armed forces personnel. “Lakhs of families have sent their children in the army and respect for veterans of the armed forces is sacrament for us. Innumerable soldiers belonging to the State have sacrificed their lives for the country and the disrespect shown by the BJP to the ex servicemen is distressing,’’ she said.
The Congress leader said that the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is a son of a soldier and the cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi had also served in the Army and it is a pity that misbehaviour with armed forces veterans happened in the State.
Dasauni said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should answer as to when and what action on those responsible for maltreatment of the armed forces veterans will be taken.
