In latest news from Doon, ahead of the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s rally in a school ground in Race Course area of Dehradun on January 28, the State Congress is now putting up a united face with the factions vowing to plunge headlong into the electioneering for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to combat the saffron party. The State Congress chief Karan Mahara had a virtual meeting with the party in-charge for the State Kumari Selja regarding the preparations for the rally. He had already appointed district in-charges for the rally. The State senior Congress leader Mathura Datt Joshi said that the party workers from the blocks were actively engaged in making the rally a success by ensuring a large turnout.
Congress veteran Harish Rawat tore into the Assam government and the BJP for scuttling Rahul Gandhi’s public engagement programmes in the northeastern State. Calling it a bad omen for democracy, he said that the saffron brigade was hell-bent on stifling democratic voice through blatant misuse of the government machinery.
