Likely to discuss election of President & organisational issues with state leaders
In view of the election of President of India, the Uttarakhand in-charge of Congress, Devendra Yadav would hold a meeting with the MLAs of the party on July 17. He will also hold discussions with the district and Mahanagar presidents of the Congress party on the day.
The State general secretary ( organisation) of Congress Vijay Saraswat said that Yadav would arrive on Sunday morning and in the afternoon he would hold a meeting with the district and Mahanagar presidents of the party. In the evening the state in charge would interact with the MLAs of the party. In this meeting the issue of election of the President of India would be discussed. The Congress party has supported the candidate of opposition parties Yashwant Sinha while the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has fielded Draupadi Murmu for the coveted post. In Uttarakhand the Congress party has only 19 MLAs while the BJP has 47. Incidentally the Congress has no Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha MP from the state. The voting for the Presidential election will be held on Tuesday ( July 17).
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, leader of opposition (LoP) in the state assembly Yashpal Arya, former chief minister Harish Rawat, former PCC president Pritam Singh, Ganesh Godiyal and other senior leaders of the party are expected to remain present in these meeting of Yadav. The issue of the organisational election of the party and the factionalism in the state unit is likely to be discussed in the meetings.
