Cong to hold protest in CM’s constituency

To protest farm laws the party would organise tractor rally in Doiwala on Nov 10

Taking the fight right into the constituency of chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, the Uttarakhand Congress has decided to hold a massive tractor rally in protest against new farm laws at Doiwala on November 10.

Informing about the plan of Congress party, the Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana said here on Saturday that Congress would continue to hold protests against the three farm laws till they are taken back by the government. He said that the party workers and leaders would hold a massive rally in the assembly constituency of CM Rawat under the leadership of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Pritam Singh on Tuesday. Launching into an attack on the Narendra Modi government at centre and Trivendra Singh Rawat governments at state, the Congress leader said that both of them have breached the faith of the farmers. He reminded that in the year 2017 ahead of assembly elections, the Prime Minister had assured that the loans of the farmers would be waived off when double engine government is installed in the state.

Dhasmana said that the promise of the PM has remained unfulfilled in the last three and half years. He claimed that the condition of farmers in the state is so pathetic that for the first time in 72 years of independence, they are forced to commit suicide. Dhasmana said that dozens of farmers have ended their lives in the last three and half years. He said that the Congress party is standing firmly behind the farmers and had fought for their cause and for payment of pending dues of sugarcane farmers in the state. Dhasmana added that the Congress party has now decided to stand with the farmers in their fight against the draconian farm laws. He added that the convener of the proposed tractor rally in Doiwala would be the president of the Parwadoon Congress, Gaurav Chaudhary and claimed that the rally would be the historic one.
