Former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has said that the Congress party is against the installation of smart meters and it will raise the issue in the upcoming session of the Vidhan Sabha.
Interacting with the mediapersons here on Thursday, the senior Congress leader and MLA from Chakrata said that the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) should install the smart meters only after the consent of the consumers. Justifying the act of the Kichha MLA Tilak Raj Behed in which he smashed the smart meters, Singh said that Behed was registering his protest as the general public is not in favour of installation of these meters.
Replying to a question on dissension within the state unit of the Congress party, the Chakrata MLA said that Congress is a mega organisation and it allows internal democracy within the party due to which its leaders and workers express their feelings openly.
He however added that all the leaders and workers of the party are completely dedicated towards the central leadership of the party. Singh added all the Congressmen are committed to make the party strong and want it to come back to power in the State.
