Reacting to the BJP win in the Kedarnath Assembly by-election the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that the Congress party will make efforts in future to ensure that anti BJP votes do not get divided in the elections.
In a statement the PCC president said that since the by-election was associated with the prestige of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the BJP was engaged in blatant misuse of power. He said that BJP used muscle and money power in the by-election and it was also able to divide anti establishment votes. Mahara added that the Congress party accepts the mandate given by the people of Kedarnath in the by-election. He said that the party would continue to stand with the people of the area and would fight for the development of the area and protect the interests of Teerth purohits, stakeholders, horses and mule operators and small shopkeepers.
He said that undeterred by lack of resources the Congress party contested the election with it full might and in a united manner. All the senior leaders of the party reached to the people and the Congress workers worked hard during the entire campaign.
Mahara said that the BJP should not get enthused by its victory because the number of unemployed is increasing and they are waging a war for their rights.
The PCC president termed the victory of INDIA alliance in Jharkhand as victory of democracy and said that it will inspire the alliance to continue to fight for the issues of public interests. He also thanked the voters who supported Congress and parties of INDI Alliance in the Maharashtra and other by-elections,
