Cong trounces BJP in U’khand bypolls

In latest news from Uttarakhand, barely one and half months after the BJP made a clean sweep of five seats up for grabs in the Lok Sabha election in the State, the party received a body blow as it tasted defeat in both the assembly bypolls-Manglaur in Haridwar district and Badrinath in Chamoli district- held on July 10. While the Congress candidate Qazi Nizamuddin won the Manglaur seat by defeating his nearest BJP candidate Kartar Singh Bhadana by a narrow margin of 449 votes the BJP candidate Rajendra Singh Bhandari was trounced by the Congress candidate Lakhpat Singh Butola by an impressive margin of 5, 095 votes
