Congress accuses State Govt of running away from Gairsain

Uttarakhand Congress has criticised the State government for consistently ignoring Gairsain the summer capital of Uttarakhand. The PCC president Karan Mahara said that the decision of the State government to organise the upcoming budget session of the State assembly in Dehradun exposes the anti Gairsain mindset of the State government. He said that it is a pity that both the State government and the Vidhan Sabha speaker are taking shield in a letter ostensibly signed by some MLAs in which they had requested that the session should not be held in Gairsain. Mahara said that the Congress party is in favour of organising the budget session in Gairsain. He said that explanation will be sought from the Congress party MLAs who have put their signatures on the letter requesting the session to be held in Dehradun.
The PCC president said that the BJP is only interested in playing politics over Gairsain. He said that it was during the rule of the Congress party that the assembly session was first of all held in a tent in Gairsain. The Congress government was instrumental in constructing the assembly building in Gairsain and organising sessions. He said that the BJP government made Gairsain the summer capital but no one from the government ever visited the place for even a couple of days.
The PCC president said that Uttarakhand was created with an objective of fulfilling aspirations of the people residing in the mountainous parts of the State and Gairsain is the symbol of the aspirations of the people of the State but the State government is continuing to ignore the Gairsain which will not be tolerated. He said that during the chief ministerial tenure of Harish Rawat, a resolution that every year the budget session of the assembly will be held in Gairsain. Mahara questioned when the government intends to hold the session in Gairsain when it is avoiding holding the session in February- March.
