Congress begins second phase of Bharat Jodo Yatra in Haridwar

Tuesday, 15 November 2022 | PNS | HARIDWAR

The Congress began the second phase of its Bharat Jodo Yatra in Uttarakhand after offering prayers to the Ganga at Har Ki Paidi in Haridwar on Monday.

Pradesh Congress Committee president Karan Mahara said that inflation, corruption and crimes have broken the back of the common man of the country. In such a situation, the Congress is no longer going to sit silent and the BJP will have to answer. He said that the former CM of the State Tirath Singh Rawat is also targeting his government, so one can imagine the extent of the government’s failures. The PCC president cornered the State government for its failure to control the rising unemployment, increasing prices and castigated it for deteriorating the law and order situation. Taking pot-shots at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi he said that those talking about taking Sanyas are wearing suits worth Rs 10 lakh each. Mahara said that the Kedarnath shrine, which is the temple of Lord Shiva who takes an ash bath, is being covered with gold.

The PCC president said that the BJP has destroyed the Ganga-Jamuni culture of India for the polarisation of votes. Opining that the BJP is duping people by showing hollow dreams, he said that though the RSS members were cited as an example of honesty, in the present time they are also involved in corruption.  Mahara said that senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wants to revive unity and love in the country. He is worried about the declining economy of the country. Mahara said that unemployment is a matter of concern for the youth in Uttarakhand.  Scams are happening in the recruitment of district Panchayat, Vidhan Sabha and other institutions, he said.

The PCC president also attended the Bharat Jodo Yatra of district Congress committee led by former minister Mantri Prasad Naithani at Chiddarwala in Dehradun. This Yatra commenced from Devprayag on November 9 and ended at the old district jail in Dehradun on Monday.
