Congress burns effigy of Amit Shah over remark on Ambedkar

The Congress workers held a protest meeting and burned the effigy of the Union Home minister Amit Shah at Astley Hall here on Thursday for what they claim as a derogatory comment on BR Ambedkar made in the parliament. Addressing the party workers the president of Mahanagar Congress Jaswinder Singh Gogi said that the statement of Shah shows that the BJP leaders have no respect for Ambedkar. He said that the BJP uses the name of Ambedkar only for electoral gains. Gogi said that there is deep malice in the hearts of BJP towards Ambedkar and this malice surfaced when in the flow of the moment the home minister made such a comment on the framer of the constitution.
He added that the objective of the BJP is to attack the constitution and the ideals of Ambedkar and it is engaging in such activity after it came to power.
Gogi said that the Congress party will not tolerate the insult of Ambedkar and will hold nationwide protests on the subject.
The vice president (Organisation) Mathuradutt Joshi, head of the SC Darshan Lal and others were present in the protest.
