Congress celebrating judicial process & casting aspersions at it simultaneously: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party has accused the Congress of playing dual politics by celebrating temporary relief granted to its leader Rahul Gandhi by the Supreme Court while doubting the judicial process in the Ankita Bhandari murder case at the same time. Reacting to the silent protest staged by the Congress here on Saturday, the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that it was a sign of the Congress’ insensitive and irresponsible politics. Bhatt said, “To ensure justice to Uttarakhand’s daughter, the State government is strongly advocating in the court to ensure punishment to the guilty. Earlier, on the directions of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami the accused were put behind the bars within 24 hours and her body was recovered within 48 hours. The accused were also booked under the Gangster Act and the Special Investigation Team collected concrete evidence against them. The government is progressing in the judicial process with the consent of the bereaved family. The people of Uttarakhand are fully satisfied with the action taken by the Dhami government which is why the public is not attending the Congress events being held on this issue. However, instead of acknowledging the reality, the Congress leaders are denigrating the people of Garhwal and Uttarakhand,” said Bhatt.

Taking a dig at the Congress, Bhatt said that he had witnessed such a ‘silent protest’ for the first time which also included speeches and sloganeering. He said that it would be better if the Congress leaders remained silent because when they speak they insult the people of Garhwal or their leader Rahul Gandhi denigrates members of an other backward class. He said, “The Congress was celebrating the temporary relief granted to Rahul Gandhi a day ago, terming it the victory of the judicial process and today they staged a protest while expressing doubts at the ongoing judicial process in a case as sensitive as the Ankita Bhandari murder case. A day ago the Congress leaders were connecting the Supreme Court decision in Rahul Gandhi’s case to the victory of the constitution and democracy and today they acted as part of a conspiracy by expressing doubts at the judicial process and stalling it by levelling confusing allegations and seeking a fresh probe in the Ankita Bhandari case.”
