Congress continues to demand CBI probe in Ankita Bhandari murder case

The Congress workers continued to hold protests in many parts of the State in support of their demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal led ‘Justice for Ankita Bhandari’ rallies in Gauchar, Karnprayag, Narayanbagad and Tharali in Chamoli district on Saturday. Addressing the rally at Karnprayag, Godiyal said that the people of the State are on the roads for their demand for justice to Ankita Bhandari but the State government is continuing to maintain silence on the sensitive issue. He said that surging crowds in the protest rallies across the State shows the mood of the people and the State government will have to reply on the issue of VIP in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. Godiyal said that the Congress party is standing with the people on the demand for a CBI probe in the Ankita Bhandari murder case.
Former PCC president and the member of the Congress Working Committee Karan Mahara led a rally in Almora on Monday.He said that the Justice for Ankita Yatras have become the voice of the people of the State. Mahara said that the people are now in no mood to tolerate the injustice. He said that the most serious and basic question on the VIP in the case is still unanswered.
Former chief minister Harish Rawat participated in a rally in Jhabreda in Haridwar on the day. He said that the Congress party will continue to seek justice for Ankita Bhandari and will not rest till the government orders a CBI probe monitored by a sitting judge of the High Court.
In Dehradun, the chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni responded to the allegation of politics levelled by the BJP on the issue by stating that the Congress will continue its support to the demand for justice to Ankita Bhandari. “ If asking for justice to Ankita is politics then the Congress party will continue to play such politics. The BJP has failed to clarify as to why repeated attempts were made to save the so-called VIP in the case,’’ she said.
