The Uttarakhand Congress has launched an attack on the BJP on the issue of getting a considerable donation from the Navyuga Construction Company involved in the construction of the tunnel in Silkyara in Uttarkashi district. The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana said that the Navyuga Company had given a donation of Rs 400 crore to the BJP in the form of electoral bonds due to which the truth behind the Silkyara incident has not come to the fore.
He said that in the incident 41 labourers remained trapped in the partially collapsed tunnel for 17 days. The labourers were saved by the rat miners after all other efforts had failed. Dhasmana said that the cabinet committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved the tunnel with a rider that it would have a provision of escape tunnel. However the company ignored the provision of digging of the escape tunnel which jeopardised the life of the labourers. Dhasmana said that now everyone has understood why no action was taken against Navyuga Company.
