The Uttarakhand Congress has demanded that the Uttarakhand government should come out with a white paper on demographic changes in the State. The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Suryakant Dhasmana said that the State government should tell the people about the change in demography and the people responsible for it.
Interacting with the media-persons at headquarters of the State Congress on Thursday, Dhasmana said that bogged down by cases of crime against women and involvement of people associated with the BJP in these crimes, the ruling party is now raking up the issue of demographic change.
He said that the incidences of rape and other crimes against women are continuing to increase in the State and the BJP and its government are trying to protect the BJP leaders involved in these crimes. Dhasmana said that the name of the VIP involved in the Ankita Bhandari murder case is yet to be disclosed and the medical examination of the minor victim in Salt was deliberately delayed due to which the accused Mandal president of BJP was able to get bail. Listing a number of other cases involving BJP leaders, Dhasmana said that instead of taking effective steps to prevent such cases the chief minister who also happens to head the home department is talking about demography change in the State. He added the head of the police force is blaming the criminals of Uttar Pradesh for increase in crime in Uttarakhand.
