The FIR registered in NOIDA by Uttar Pradesh police in a mega land scam case against notorious gangster Yashpal Tomar and his accomplices which include relatives to two officers of Indian Administrative Services (IAS) and one Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Uttarakhand is snowballing into a big political issue in the state. The case has given Uttarakhand Congress a stick to browbeat the Pushkar Singh Dhami government just ahead the crucial assembly by poll of Champawat. Demanding a high level inquiry in the case and strict action against the culprits, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said on Tuesday that allegations of the grabbing of land of Dalits by the land mafia and involvement of two IAS and one IPS officers of Uttarakhand are very serious. He said that the officers whose relatives are under scanner were deployed at different times as district magistrates (DM) and Senior Superintendent of Police in Haridwar. It is apparent that these officers worked in collusion with gangster Tomar and were involved in land deals in the names of their close relatives. Mahara said that these officers enjoy patronage of the Uttarakhand government and one of them is stationed as secretary to the CM Dhami in state administration.
The PCC president claimed that the empire of gangster Yashpal Tomar spread from Western Uttar Pradesh to Uttarakhand. He said that the Uttarakhand government should conduct a high level inquiry to expose the land mafia and bureaucrats involved in the whole game.
