Continuing his campaign for the party’s Lok Sabha candidates on Friday, Bharatiya Janata Party national president Jagat Prakash Nadda said that while the Congress fuelled divisions in the country while Prime minister Narendra Modi changed the very definition of politics. Addressing a public gathering in Haridwar in support of the party’s candidate from this constituency, Trivendra Singh Rawat, Nadda appealed to the public to vote for the party’s candidates on all five parliamentary seats in the State.

Stating that the BJP is the largest party today, he said that the Congress party had contested elections by dividing the people on the lines of caste. “The Congress fuelled divisions and also fielded electoral candidates on divisive lines. However, PM Modi changed the definition of politics. He brought in the politics of performance as he believes that if you want to stay (in power), then work,” he said. Nadda further said that the nation has grown stronger during the past 10 years under Modi’s leadership. Stating that this is also the age of the revival of Sanatan culture, he said that the BJP is politically fighting for the development of the nation under Modi’s leadership. “PM Modi had stated from the ramparts of the Red Fort that this is the time of India’s dignity and pride. Earlier, the nation has seen a time when our spiritual power had decreased and the leadership of that time was never with spiritual powers. However, under Modi’s leadership, the spiritual powers of the nation have also grown stronger. The nation’s place has risen in the global community. Our economy is the fifth largest in the world, ahead of nations like Britain. Now we are striving to make India the world’s third largest economy,” the BJP national president said.

Speaking on the issue of corruption, he said that while PM Modi is talking of eradicating corruption, the INDIA bloc is focusing on protecting the corrupt.

Earlier, Nadda arrived at the Gurukul Kangri helipad from where he reached the temple of the presiding deity of the Panchdashnam Juna Akhada to offer prayers. He also planted a sapling and sought the blessings of the religious fraternity. The BJP national president then took out a road show from Aryanagar area to the Rishikul Ground along with the party’s Haridwar candidate, sitting MP and former chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and other party leaders.
