The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that the Congress has always opposed Lord Ram and nationalism. This is the reason why it is questioning the State government’s decision to allow its employees to attend programmes of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan welcomed the government’s decision to allow its employees to attend RSS Shakhas and programmes, stating that the historic decision of the Central and State governments will strengthen efforts aimed at the cultural, social and developmental upliftment of Uttarakhand. Responding to objections raised by the Congress, he said that the Congress leaders should learn about the work of the Sangh from the disaster affected residents of its leader Rahul Gandhi’s previous constituency Wayanad in Kerala. Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders were absent from the scene while RSS volunteers served and assisted the disaster affected people in this area, he said.
“An unconstitutional order was issued in 1966 restricting government employees from participating in activities of the RSS. First the Central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then the State government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has removed this unconstitutional ban forever. For about 99 years, the RSS has been consistently working for nation building and serving the society. Irrespective of the party, the nation’s leadership has always praised the Sangh’s contribution towards national security, unity-integrity and its assistance at times of natural disasters. However, due to its political insecurity, the Indira Gandhi government had banned government employees from attending RSS programmes without a proper basis,” Chauhan said.Rejecting the objections of Congress and other opposition parties, he said that one cannot expect a positive response from those opposed to Ram and nationalism. He said that the Congress and other opposition parties should recall what the RSS had done after natural disasters in Kedarnath, Uttarkashi, Malpa, during the Covid-19 pandemic and various other situations, in addition to working consistently for the upliftment of Sanatan culture.
