Releases election manifesto of Congress party, attacks BJP governments at Centre & State for failure to fulfill public aspirations

The general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Priyanka Gandhi gave a major push to the election campaign of the Congress party by addressing a public meeting in Dehradun which was telecast live in all 70 assembly constituencies of the state on Wednesday. She also released the manifesto of the Congress party for the upcoming elections in the programme. Releasing the manifesto titled ‘ Uttarakhandi Swabhiman Pratigya’ she said that the Congress has a proven track record of fulfilling the promises made by it. Giving an example of Chhattisgarh, Gandhi said that the pre poll promise of waiver of farm loans was fulfilled within three hours of swearing in of the Congress government. She said that the BJP government in Uttarakhand has broken the aspirations of the people and has done nothing in the last five years. Raking up the issue of women empowerment, Priyanka said that a crime is committed every five hours against the women and the unemployment rate among them is highest. Launching an attack on the Narendra Modi government she said that the union government can spend Rs 16,000 crore on purchasing two aeroplanes for Modi but cannot pay Rs 14,000 crore that are due to the sugarcane farmers of the country. She said that during the pandemic period the people of India suffered due to the shortage of oxygen and vaccines because the government had exported them. Taking a dig at the Union budget, Priyanka said that while the price of diamonds has decreased but the prices of medicines have increased. Without naming the BJP she said that they will now come and talk about caste and religion and seek votes but would not say anything about development, education, employment and price rise.
Speaking on the occasion former chief minister Harish Rawat said he is witness to the historic ‘ Garibi Hatao’ slogan given by Indira Gandhi and today her granddaughter has given a slogan of ‘ Ladki Hun Lad Sakti hun’. He said that the governments should keep these two ideas while framing policies. Launching an attack on the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Rawat said that within a short time period he has been successful in getting the title of ‘ Mining loving CM’ and if would have got more time he should have sold the sand and the lands. He promised that the Congress government would provide 21 types of social security pensions to different sections. Rawat said that his government had provided government jobs to 32,000 but the BJP in the last five year has only changed the faces of CMs.
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal said that the Congress has focused on the core issues of providing employment, reducing price rise and good quality health service in its manifesto. He said that Rs 20 lakh crore provided by the Modi government during the pandemic has only benefited Ambanis and Adanis.
The Leader of Opposition (LoP) Pritam Singh said that the Congress workers have toiled hard in the last five years and exposed the misdeeds of the government and their efforts have now resulted in a situation where change is imminent in Uttarakhand.
On the occasion Gandhi provided symbolic assistance to Dehradun resident Sunita Goyal and employment letters to Priyanshu Tapa, Archna Negi and Neelam Rawat.
The incharge of Uttarakhand Congress Devendra Yadav, co in charge Rajesh Dharmani, Dipika Singh, senior leader Mohan Prakash, Harak Singh Rawat and national spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh were present on the occasion.
