Congress has double-standards on investment: BJP

Wednesday, 26 June 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Accusing the Congress of being unconcerned about investment in and development of the State, the Bharatiya Janata Party has said that the party does nothing more than oppose.  Responding to doubts cast by the Congress regarding the Adani group’s proposal to invest in Uttarakhand, the BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the Congress has been exposing its double-standards on investment.

The Congress spreads an atmosphere against industrialists across the nation but goes silent when investments are made in States governed by it. The anti-investment and anti-development stance of the Congress is not in the interests of any State, he said. “Investment in Uttarakhand will certainly affect the State’s economy and development. There are immense possibilities in agriculture and horticulture here. Large scale investment will directly benefit the public. Farmers are free to sell their produce and investment will also increase their income. However, the Congress is sensing a conspiracy in investment which shows its mentality.

It expresses concern at migration from the mountainous regions of the State but starts opposing when something constructive is about to happen,” Chauhan said. Enhanced opportunities in the agriculture sector will encourage people to farm and the area under agriculture will increase which will bring better results. It would be better if the Congress refrains from propaganda and stops opposing investment in the State as the people have been repeatedly giving it a befitting answer in the elections, he added.
