The Uttarakhand unit of the BJP has said that by showcasing the Joshimath issue prominently during the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra of Rahul Gandhi in Jammu and Kashmir the Congress party has tried to denigrate the image of the State and hurt the tourism sector including the Char Dham Yatra. Reacting to the reports that Rahul Gandhi would soon visit Joshimath, the media in charge of the BJP Manvir Chauhan said that he had visited the State during the disaster of 2013 as part of the politics and went away after conducting an aerial tour. Chauhan said that the State Congress was engaged in a bitter power struggle when the State was fighting with the spectre of disaster. The Chief Minister got changed but the disaster of corruption started in the State. “ The saga of these disasters echoed in the entire country but the prince of Congress party remained aloof then,’’ he quipped. Chauhan said that the State government is making necessary arrangements for relief and rehabilitation of the affected families of Joshimath. The situation is being directly monitored by both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Chauhan said that Rahul Gandhi had directed the Congress leaders to share the pain of the people of Joshimath but the Congressmen landed in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Launching an attack on the Congress party, the BJP leader said that the Congress leaders who are shedding crocodile tears on the projects know it very well that all the projects were conceived during their rule.
