Congress ignored opposition MLAs when in power: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party State spokesman Vipin Kainthola said that the Congress should first check its own past record before raising questions at the review meeting taken by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami with MLAs of opposition parties. He said that the Congress should tell the people of the State whether its government had made such attempts when the Congress was in power. It will be recalled that earlier this week on Thursday, Dhami had reviewed the progress of development schemes in the Assembly constituencies represented by the opposition parties and independents belonging to Tehri, Garhwal and Haridwar parliamentary constituencies. The meeting was attended by Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party and independent MLAs.

Kainthola said that when the Congress government was in office in Uttarakhand, the chief minister used to be busy with MLAs of Progressive Democratic Front while being unable to take out the time to meet the opposition MLAs while even the Congress MLAs used to struggle to meet the CM regarding the development works in their constituencies. Claiming that this had occurred repeatedly, the BJP spokesman said that the Congress MLAs used to openly talk in the media about such behaviour of the CM. Kainthola said, “The current chief minister has made an attempt to take the opposition MLAs along in the efforts for development in Uttarakhand but some leaders of the Congress are still playing politics on this. Raising questions on such proactive efforts has only exposed the Congress leaders who want to stall the developmental journey of Uttarakhand. This clearly shows the lack of commitment of such leaders for the development of their own areas and the State.” Kainthola further opined that the Congress has limited itself to opposing for the sake of opposition. The people of Uttarakhand are aware and watching the actions of such leaders. The Congress will have to answer the public on such issues as simply raising questions and opposing for the sake of opposition will not help the party conceal its misdeeds, he added.
