Congress leaders mourn death of former PM Manmohan Singh

Glowing tributes were paid by the Congress leaders to the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on his demise on Friday. A condolence meeting was held at the headquarters of the State Congress in which the senior leaders paid floral tributes to the departed leader. They also observed a silence of two minutes as a mark of respect for Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that Singh was a world famous economist and a Pioneer of the economic reforms in India. He said that the death of Singh is an irreparable loss for the Congress party and the country. Mahara said that laws such as right to information, right to food and right to education were enacted during the time when Manmohan Singh was the PM of the country.
The leader of opposition (LoP) in State assembly Yashpal Arya said that MGNREGA was conceptualised during the tenure of Manmohan Singh. He said that the late PM will always be remembered for taking the economy of the country to new heights. Arya said the political vacuum created due to the death of Singh will never be filled. He said that the late PM will always be remembered as an able administrator and economist. Former PCC president Pritam Singh said that Manmohan Singh was an ideal politician who had initiated historic measures to change the direction of the country.
The co-in-charge of the State Congress Surendra Sharma, former secretary of AICC Prakash Joshi, deputy leader of Congress legislature party Bhuwan Kapdi, former MP Pradeep Tamta, Govind Singh Kunjwal, the vice president (organisation) Mathuradutt Joshi, vice president Suryakant Dhasmana, and others attended the meeting.
