Congress leaders to follow orders, march to Raj Bhawan
Friday, 05 August | PNS | Dehradun
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that the Congress party would not get bogged down by the repressive politics of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and would continue to agitate against rising prices, unemployment, GST imposed on food products and the Agnipath scheme. In what might seem like adherence to orders of the party’s central leadership, he said that the party would organise a march to the residence of the governor on August 5. He claimed that the state administration is trying to prevent the party from holding protests and has imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 on the Cantt Road but the party would hold a “massive protest”.
Interacting with the media persons at Rajiv Bhawan here on Thursday, Mahara said that the manner in which the security forces were deployed around the headquarters of Congress party at 24 Akbar Road residence of party president Sonia Gandhi at 10, Janpath and residence of Rahul Gandhi at 12, Tuglak lane suggests that an undeclared emergency has been imposed in the country. He added that the party would not get intimidated by these tactics and would hold a demonstration at the residence of the Prime Minister on Friday. The PCC President added that the repressive measures adopted by the ruling party has proven that the government is under the grip of fear.
He said that the Modi government is engaged in vindictive politics but the Congress party would continue to raise the issues of people forcefully.
Launching a scathing attack on the Modi government, the PCC president said that the unemployment and the prices have increased tremendously in the last eight years and now by imposing GST on food products the government has broken the back of common man.
Taking a dig at the BJP, Mahara said that it is appreciable that the party and its mother organisation (RSS) which had never given any respect to the national flag is now talking about ‘ Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. He claimed that the plan of taking out Tiranga Yatra on 75 years of independence of the country by the Congress party prompted the BJP for the Har Ghar Tiranga plan.
The PCC president targeted the state government for the pathetic condition of health services and said that the incidence of mother mortality rate has increased in the last few years and the state has now slipped to 18 position in MMR. He said that it is shocking that 64 per cent of posts of gynaecologists and 60 per cent paediatrics are lying vacant in Uttarakhand. He said that a total of 798 pregnant women have died in the state from the year 2016-17 to 2020-21 while giving birth.
Mahara said that the Congress party would undertake a Tiranga Yatra from August 9 to 15 . In the Yatra the Congress leaders would undertake a march of 75 km in every district.
The Vice president ( Organisation) Mathura Dutt Joshi, General secretary organisation Vijay Saraswat, Garima Dasauni, Amarjeet Singh and others were present on the occasion.
