Congress MLAs protests smart meter installation

PNS | DEHRADUN

The Congress members sat on stairs leading to the house on the second day of the budget session of Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday to register their protest on various subjects. Holding placards, the Congress MLAs demanded an increase in the duration of the budget session. They also registered their protest on what they  called forcible installation of the smart meters by UPCL.

The leader of the opposition Yashpal Arya said that the general public is against the forcible installation of the smart meters. He said that the Congress will protest the installation of these meters which are actually detrimental for the interests of the consumers.

Arya also objected to the comment of the Parliamentary Affairs minister Premchand Agarwal in which he had said that probably the Congress MLA Madan Bisht had come to the house on Tuesday in an inebriated condition. He said that the minister should not make such comments against the members of the house without any proof.
