Congress objects to Nabin’s jibe at Rahul Gandhi

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

Taking strong exception to the Vande Mataram and culture jibe on leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi by national president of Bharatiya Janata Party Nitin Nabin in Haldwani, the Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal has said such divisive comments reflect the narrow mind-set of Nabin. He said that it is unfortunate that the national president of a party is engaged in dividing the country on the basis of religion, caste and sect. “ Nabin is perhaps forgetting that Rahul Gandhi has undertaken historic Padayatras of thousands of kilometres from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and from Manipur to Mumbai against the politics of hatred. He is uniting the entire country and opening Mohobat Ki Dukan, while the BJP is busy facilitating hatred shops across the country,’’ he said.

Godiyal said that when Rahul Gandhi demands a ‘caste census’ to ensure the rights of the backward, Dalits and the exploited, the BJP’s national president sees it as an attempt to divide the country. The truth is that the BJP never wants the poor and deprived sections of this country to get their rights.

Godiyal claimed that Nabin made baseless statements to hide the failure of the BJP government both at centre and state.

“Uttarakhand’s double-engine government has failed on every front. The State’s youth are reeling under unemployment, women are unsafe and daughters like Ankita Bhandari have yet to receive justice. Instead of answering these fundamental and serious questions, the BJP National President is merely making a failed attempt to divert the State’s public’s attention by leveling false accusations against the Congress and Rahul Gandhi,’’ he said.

The PCC president said Rahul Gandhi has become the fearless voice of millions of oppressed people, youth and farmers across the country. No matter how much the BJP spreads propaganda against him, his campaign to unite the country will not stop. BJP leaders should stop polluting the peace and harmony of Devbhoomi with their cheap politics, he added.
