The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that the Congress raising objection to ban on non-Hindus on the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar is part of its appeasement policy. After failing to exploit the Ankita Bhandari murder case the Congress is looking for new excuses to protest, the BJP alleged.
Interacting with media persons at the party’s State office here on Friday, the BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said that Sanatan sentiment should be respected when it comes to the restriction on the entry of non-Hindus in the Kumbh Mela area. The objections being raised by the opposition on this issue are all motivated by their policy of appeasement, he said.
Bhatt said that this regulation is already in place in the said area, considering which all should observe it. “When non-Muslims are not allowed in religious places like Mecca-Madina, the sentiments of Sanatanis should also be respected as any non-Hindu will not bathe in the Ganga with an intention of earning religious merit,” Bhatt said.
Regarding Sukhwant Singh’s suicide, he accused the opposition of playing politics, adding that necessary legal action and investigation had been initiated on chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s directions. Expressing disappointment at statements made by Congress leaders, he opined that a party left without issues is raking up every bit and attempting to politicise it. The Congress leaders are viewing the coming election and trying to maintain their political relevance by defaming the government, he said.
