Congress pays tribute to Gandhi on death anniversary

Glowing tributes were paid to father of nation Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary at the headquarters of State Congress on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the president of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Karan Mahara said that Gandhi’s thoughts and ideals have to be spread to the people by following the path of truth and non-violence shown by him.

He said that today such people are in power who support the policies of Godse and they are forgetting the ideals for which Gandhi sacrificed his life.

The PCC president said that the Congress party has always worked to fulfil the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi He said that Gandhi gave the call of ‘Quit India’ to oust the British from the country. On his call, lakhs of men and women participated enthusiastically for the freedom of the country.  Mahara said that the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi are relevant even today and the whole world wants to follow him.

The president of Mahanagar Congress Jaswinder Singh Gogi said that Mahatma Gandhi gave the tool of Satyagraha against injustice and atrocities in a democratic and non-violent way.

  Tributes were also paid to the father of the nation by the chief spokesperson of State Congress Garima Dasauni, Sheeshpal Singh Bisht and others on the occasion.
