Congress pays tributes to Nehru on 60th death anniversary

The leaders and workers of Congress party paid tributes to the first Prime Minister of the country Jawaharlal Nehru on his 60th death anniversary on Monday. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara led the Congressmen in paying floral tributes to the late leader. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Nehru played a key role in laying the foundation of a secular, modern and forward moving India.
He said that the principle of Panchsheel given by Nehru gives the message of peace to the world even today. In the history of parliamentary democracy, Nehru undertook an experiment of socialism, democracy and planning which gave a new direction to the breeze of democracy in the world. Mahara added that the first PM of the country laid the foundation of industrial development by means of public sector undertakings.
Nehru was a visionary and he presented a new model of development of India before the world. The world still considers him as the father of mixed economy.
The PCC president claimed that some powers are trying to erase the works done by Nehru and his memories but the Congress workers will not allow this to happen. He exhorted the party workers to follow the ideals given by Nehru.
Former cabinet minister Hira Singh Bisht said that Nehru believed in equal rights over the resources of the country.
The vice president of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Mathura Dutt Joshi said that the best tribute to Nehru would be to follow the path shown by him.
The president of Mahanagar Congress, Jaswinder Singh Gogi said that under the leadership of Nehru the Congress party ensured that India became a powerful country in the world. He said that those in power now are trying to weaken the communal harmony of the country.
