Congress playing divisive politics to vitiate atmosphere in U’khand: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party has accused the Congress of indulging in divisive politics. Rajpur Road MLA and BJP State spokesman Khajan Das said that Prem Chand Aggarwal had resigned from the cabinet but the “foulmouthed” MLAs of the Congress and its State president had yet to do likewise.
Addressing the media, he said that following the unfortunate incident during the Assembly budget session, Aggarwal had apologised publically and at the party forum. Despite this, attempts are being made to exploit divisive issues and vitiate the atmosphere in the State. He said that Congress leaders are orchestrating their divisive conspiracy at the cost of spoiling the atmosphere in the State. Aggarwal resigned from the cabinet to honour public sentiment and check the campaign against development and harmony in Uttarakhand. “However, the opposition, especially the Congress must answer some important questions as its MLAs who used foul language in the house and outside the Assembly neither expressed regret nor resigned. Why did the Pradesh Congress Committee president or the party’s central leadership dare to act against such MLAs? All such Congress MLAs are moving around in the State and making statements to divide people on Pahadi-Desi lines to spoil the atmosphere but the party leadership has not dared to take any action yet,” he said.
Targetting former chief minister Harish Rawat, Das said that he preaches on ‘Uttarakhandiyat’ on social media but has not even criticised such MLAs of his party. He said that one cannot expect morality from such Congress leaders who are playing divisive politics. Referring to PCC chief Karan Mahara, he recalled his controversial statements on Garhwal and Uttarakhand, adding that the Congress high command should first remove him from his post. He alleged that the Congress is unable to digest Uttarakhand’s development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance and CM Pushkar Singh Dhami’s leadership. The people have been electing the BJP in successive elections which has stumped the Congress leaders, he opined. Das said that when the BJP responded to the Congress’ actions by taking a stand in the interests of the State, the Congress resorted to blaming the BJP. However, the people are aware and watching the divisive mentality of the Congress,” he added.
