The State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Congress party of playing politics on the issue of slum dwellers. The state media in charge of BJP Manvir Chauhan said that the BJP government had promulgated an ordinance for safeguarding public interests in the past and in future as well the BJP will not allow harassment of the needy.
He said that the BJP is the party which follows the principle of Antyodaya but the Congress party is engaging in politics on the sensitive issue.
Terming the Congress protest in the issue as politically motivated, Chauhan said that the entire process is being done on the orders of National Green Tribunal (NGT). He said no demolition has been done till date. He added that the government is studying the NGT order and soon a solution will be found.
Chauhan said that the BJP government promulgated ordinances for three years each in 2018 and 2021 in public interest. He said that the president of State BJP has also made the position of the party clear on the issue.
He alleged that the Congress leaders are spreading canard and confusion on the issue in an attempt to take electoral advantage in the municipal elections.
