Congress politically exploiting disaster instead of helping the affected: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that instead of serving the public, the Congress is making baseless statements regarding disaster. BJP State spokesman Bipin Kainthola said that the Congress had suspended its politically motivated Kedarnath Pratishtha Raksha Yatra on the ground and had shifted it to social media. Instead of serving the people in the disaster-affected areas, the Congress leaders suspended their political tourism Yatra and swiftly left the affected areas, he said.
In a statement issued to the media on Sunday, Kainthola stated, “First the Congress started a political Yatra sans issues in the name of Baba Kedar. Even then they did not have anything concrete to say and even now their leaders are indulging in making hollow statements. The Congress and its leaders search for political opportunities in disaster scenarios whether it be the time of the Covid-19 pandemic, a natural disaster or some social issue. When the disaster struck Rudraprayag district, the Congress was busy in its so-called Yatra and its leaders went to the area where the disaster had struck. The administration had suspended the pilgrimage on foot to Kedarnath due to the disaster but the insensitive Congress leaders swiftly left the area instead of assisting the disaster-affected people. If the Pradesh Congress Committee president and other party leaders were sensitive towards the disaster, they would have stayed there to help the affected persons like the BJP workers did. The BJP workers are dedicatedly working for the affected people in such areas. The BJP workers are also concerned about the accommodation and food for the affected people along with the administration. On the other hand, the PCC chief and leaders are sitting in Dehradun and searching for political opportunities in the disaster,” he said.
The BJP spokesman further opined that the statements being made by Congress leaders regarding the disaster have once again made it clear that the Congress politically exploits social, religious, economic, security and disaster related issues. It is unfortunate that the Congress suspended its political rally on the ground but has continued it on social media, The BJP once again requests the Congress to avoid spreading confusion and rumours regarding the disaster in the interests of the State and the public, he added.
