Party stages demonstration in support of unemployed youth

Two groups of National Students Union of India (NSUI) clashed outside the head office of Uttarakhand Congress on Monday. The trouble started when some workers started protesting when the national president of NSUI, Raj Neeraj Kundan arrived in the party office to participate in the protest which was planned by the party. Heated arguments between the two groups soon escalated and some members were seen exchanging blows with one another.  The police had to intervene to separate the two groups.

Meanwhile the protest of the Congress party in support of the agitation of the unemployed continued on Monday. On the day the leaders and workers of the Congress party staged a march towards the State secretariat to express its protest over the use of brutal force on the students and registration of cases on the students. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, the former PCC president Pritam Singh, senior leader Manish Khanduri, MLA Vikram Singh Negi and others took part in the march. The protesters shouted slogans against the dictatorial attitude of the State government. The PCC president Karan Mahara said that the State government is trying to protect those involved in the paper leak cases and this is the reason for its reluctance to order a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry. He demanded that the leader of the unemployed Bobby Panwar and others should be released immediately. The former PCC president Pritam Singh said that the youngsters have no faith in the State government. The march was prevented by the police from moving forward following which the Congress leaders courted arrest.
