Congress protest plan laughable after Rahul Gandhi’s sentencing for insulting OBC community: BJP

Referring to the Congress’ plan to register police complaints against Bharatiya Janata Party leaders who have used questionable language against Congress leaders, the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt questioned why the party had not lodged the complaints when it had felt purportedly insulted. The Congress plan is laughable after its leader Rahul Gandhi was sentenced for insulting the OBC community, he said.

Bhatt said that the Congress is undertaking many political campaigns simultaneously just in order to remain in public focus. “The Congress is running its political movements only on the basis of announcements because in the State its organisational team has not even been formed and yet it is claiming to undertake various political campaigns at a time. The Congress is planning to undertake a month-long movement in addition to the various drives it is already undertaking. In reality none of these movements will be visible on the ground,” said Bhatt. He suggested that the Congress should first be bothered about saving its party and then maintaining democracy in the party. As far as democracy in the nation is concerned, it is very strong under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added.

Taking a jibe at the Congress becoming active, he said that the party would not have had to announce its political campaigns now if it had become active on time in the court for Rahul Gandhi. There is still time because he is embroiled in many such cases. He may also have to reply regarding a comment he had made on the RSS following a case in Haridwar. Accepting the challenge thrown by the Congress, the BJP State president said that every office bearer and worker of the BJP follows the constitution, adding that the Congress is free to lodge cases regarding allegedly objectionable statements. “However, it is surprising that their leaders realised that they felt insulted after so long and that too after Rahul Gandhi was sentenced for insulting the OBC community. It appears as if the Congress leaders have lost feeling due to which they focus only on Rahul Gandhi and do not feel any insult allegedly aimed at them or the society,” said Bhatt.

He further said that the court and the public had already ruled in favour of the BJP in all the cases on which the Congress is planning to undertake a protest movement. The BJP government has taken swift and effective action in all the cases to the satisfaction of the public, he averred.
