The Congress workers staged a protest here on Friday against the alleged misbehaviour with the Lok Sabha leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi by the members of ruling party in the parliament.
Led by the president of Mahanagar Congress, Jaswinder Singh Gogi, the workers assembled at Kanak Chowk on the day and burned the effigy of the government. The agitated workers also started marching towards the BJP Mahanagar office but were prevented by the police from moving further. Addressing the workers, the president of women Congress Jyoti Rautela said that the BJP has adopted a dictatorial attitude.
The Mahanagar president Gogi said that the BJP started the drama of jostling at the parliament stairs to divert attention from the anger generated in the country by the derogatory comment on B R Ambedkar made by the Union Home minister Amit Shah in parliament. He said that there is proof of the allegations made by the BJP on Rahul Gandhi and no CCTV footage of the incident is being shown. The Congress leader said that the entire episode is a shameful attempt by the BJP to save Shah. He said that the Congress will neither allow the Home minister to avoid responsibility for the derogatory comment on the Ambedkar issue nor will get bogged down by the FIR on the Congress leader.
