Congress protests against surge in corruption cases under BJP regime

Sunday, 29 October 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Congress workers staged a protest against the increase in the cases of corruption under the BJP government in Uttarakhand here on Saturday. Led by the president of Mahanagar Congress, Jaswinder Gogi the workers assembled at the Congress Bhawan on the day and held a demonstration at nearby Astley hall. They also burned an effigy of the State government on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering Gogi said that cases of corruption such as recruitment scam, illegal felling of trees in forests, cooperative department recruitment scam and horticulture scam are coming to fore under the BJP government. He said that in the last one year, the Uttarakhand High Court has ordered Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry in the cases of illegal felling of trees in Corbett National Park, parking scam in Pantdweep in Haridwar and the horticulture scam after it found the ongoing investigation unsatisfactory.

He said that the slew of corruption cases prove that the corruption has got the support of the system. Terming the BJP government and corruption synonymous to one another, Gogi said that the Pushkar Singh Dhami government has lost the moral right to remain in power.

He said that the State government is efficient in only diverting the attention of people from real issues. Gogi said that the State needs a strong land law but the CM is talking about uniform civil code. The law and order situation is at its abyss and the government which should be ashamed of the recruitment scam is patting its own back for bringing in an anti-copying act.   He said that the people of the state will teach a lesson to the BJP at the right time.

The State vice president Puran Singh Rawat said that the curse of youth emanating out of the recruitment scam will demolish BJP in the Lok Sabha and urban local bodies elections.

The State spokesperson of Congress Garima Dasauni, Manish Nagpal, NSUI president Vikas Negi and others attended the protest.
