The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress, Suryakant Dhasmana said that the State administration and the border roads organisation (BRO) should have shifted the labourers working in road construction works to safer places after the department of meteorology had issued a warning of heavy rain and snowfall in the area.

He said that the State administration and BRO both had information about the weather forecast but their negligence resulted in the situation where the labourers were trapped in an avalanche in the Mana area of Chamoli district.

He said that everyone is praying for the safety of the labourers affected by the avalanche in Chamoli. The Congress leader said that the responsibility of the incident should be fixed.
