Congress questions BJP’s workshop on Waqf law

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

Criticising the Bharatiya Janata Party for organising a workshop on Waqf law at its State party office which was attended by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and other leaders, the vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Suryakant Dhasmana has said that the only objective of BJP is to spread hatred in the name of Waqf in the society.

He said that the BJP governments at centre and the State have found a new weapon in the form of the Waqf law to divert attention of people from their failures. Dhasmana said that the unemployment and inflation rate is increasing while the GDP is declining and the President of the USA is terrorising the nations with tariff war.  He said that the unemployment in the State is increasing due to which the youth is restless and angry at the government. The prices of edible items, cooking gas, oil, food grains and vegetables have skyrocketed and the double engine governments of BJP have failed to provide relief to the people reeling under price rise.

The Congress leader said that the international prices of crude oil has reached its lowest level but instead of reducing the prices of diesel and petrol, the government has increased their prices.

He said that the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is missing from the list of 100 most powerful people released by the Time magazine. It has happened for the first time in the last 10 years and has taken the air out of propaganda of BJP on Modi being a world leader.

Dhasmana said that the manner in which the Supreme Court has imposed a stay on two main provisions of the amended Waqf law shows that the objections raised by the Congress party in the parliament on the law were correct.
