Uttarakhand Congress took out an Ankita Bhandari Nyay Yatra in the Mussoorie Assembly constituency on Wednesday. The Yatra commenced at the Hathibadkala Chowk and ended at Gandhi Park. Addressing the Congress workers, the former chief minister Harish Rawat said that while the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra of Rahul Gandhi is dedicated against injustice, the Yatra in the State is dedicated to the daughter of Uttarakhand, Ankita Bhandari. He said since the witness in the case has told the court about the people who had asked to use a bulldozer on the Vanantra resort, an FIR should be registered against them and an additional charge sheet should be filed in the case because it was done to destroy evidence. Rawat said that the father of Ankita has disclosed the name of VIP in the case and an FIR should be registered against him as well. He said that the case is a test of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The leader of opposition in the Vidhan Sabha, Yashpal Arya said that the Ankita Bhandari murder case has exposed the link between those in power and the criminals. He said that daughters are not safe under the BJP rule and added that the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao is a hollow slogan of the BJP.
The president of Mahanagar Congress Jaswinder Singh Gogi said that the Yatra is being organised to advocate for providing justice to Ankita Bhandari.
State general secretary Godavri Thapli, president of Uttarakhand Mahila Congress Jyoti Rautela, Manish Nagpal, Garima Dasauni, Mahendra Singh Negi and others attended the Yatra.
