Congress seeks votes to keep “arrogant” BJP in check

With little more than a week left for polling in the Kedarnath Vidhan Sabha bypoll, Congress candidate Manoj Rawat, former chief minister and senior party leader Harish Rawat along with other party leaders campaigned in various parts of the constituency on Sunday. The veteran Congress leader appealed to the public to vote for the Congress candidate, assuring them that this will enable the opposition to keep the “arrogant” BJP in check. Meanwhile, Manoj Rawat pointed out the lack of development and other issues affecting the people in the constituency while interacting with the residents of various villages in the constituency.

Addressing the voters while campaigning on Sunday, the former CM alleged that the BJP government is conspiring to outsource the operation of the Char Dham Yatra to outside the State. “The Char Dham Yatra is the backbone of Garhwal region’s economy but mark my words when I say that if things continue like now, the operation of the Char Dham Yatra will be facilitated from some faraway location in Surat, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Chennai on Kolkata in the next five to six years,” he said. Appealing to the voters, he said that they had repeatedly boosted the BJP. “You elected them in the Vidhan Sabha elections and got us defeated in the Lok Sabha elections too. You have pumped the BJP up so much that it has now become very arrogant. I request you to vote for the Congress because this will strengthen the opposition and enable us to keep a check on the government in public interest. The ruling party and opposition are both necessary for a healthy democracy. Ensuring our victory in this bypoll will pave the way for the Congress winning the 2027 Vidhan Sabha elections. We assure you that then we will not forget the women, the unemployed youth and the aged,” the former CM said.
