Uttarakhand Congress has demanded that the State government should release a white paper on the natural disasters including that of Harshil, Tharali and Dewal that affected the State in the year 2025. Vice president of Uttarakhand Congress, Suryakant Dhasmana said that the white paper should have complete details on the loss to life and property and relief and rehabilitation works in these disasters.
Interacting with the media persons at Rajiv Bhawan on Thursday, Dhasmana said that the Congress party’s reaction to the statement made by colonel (retd) Ajay Kothiyal was natural. He said that the Congress party government had handed over the task of reconstruction of Kedarnath shrine after the Kedarnath natural disaster in 2013 to Kothiyal and he had accomplished the task with dedication and hard work and the party holds him in high esteem for this. He said that after the statement of Kothiyal that many bodies are still trapped in the debris in Dharali, a delegation of Congress party led by the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal had left for Dharali to take stock of the situation. The delegation includes former PCC president Karan Mahara. Dhasmana said that the Congress party still respects Kothiyal and the onus is now on him to inform people about the actual status of the Dharali disaster. He said that the government should also release the correct data of dead and missing persons in the Dharali disaster of August this year.
