The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that it has always maintained a positive attitude when it comes to temples. The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that this is the reason why the BJP had not objected to the then chief minister Harish Rawat laying the foundation for a Badrinath temple in Mumbai in 2015. The Congress needs to change its mentality, instead of indulging in hypocrisy and considering its history of appeasement, he said.
Responding to the Congress’ statement that the BJP should have opposed the foundation laying of a Badrinath temple in Mumbai during 2015 and that it had not played the role of a responsible opposition by not doing so, Chauhan said that the Congress did not remember Sanatan culture at that time. “However, now if the Congress has suddenly become aware, it can seek a clarification from its then chief minister on the subject. The Shankaracharya expressing his opposition today too did not remember at that time and should also clarify his position on this error,” the BJP State media in-charge said.
He further clarified that the position of the BJP on symbolic temples is very clear. “The BJP does not have any objection to symbolic Badrinath or Kedarnath temples. The Kedarnath temple being constructed in Delhi is being built by a trust and the Uttarakhand government or the Kedarnath temple trust have nothing to do with it. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had gone to the foundation laying event in Delhi as a guest. However, the Congress is wrongly projecting the said temple as a branch of the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand. The Congress is projecting itself as a guardian of Sanatan culture today but the people of the nation are well aware of its history of appeasement. The developments in Char Dham, Adi Kailash and Kainchi Dham have been made possible due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special attachment for Uttarakhand and chief minister Dhami’s leadership. The Congress which always questioned the pilgrimage centres of Sanatan Dharma and even questioned the existence of lord Ram for its politics of appeasement suddenly donning a religious cloak is not surprising but blatant hypocrisy. The Congress is doing this to prevent its downfall but being habituated to appeasement politics, it has become an opponent of Sanatan. The people are supreme and will teach the Congress lesson once again,” Chauhan added.
