Congress spreading lies on Kedarnath and disaster: Agrawal

Tuesday, 30 JULY 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Targetting the Kedarnath rally of the Congress, cabinet minister Prem Chand Agrawal said that Lord Shiva will punish the Congress for spreading lies and indulging in drama regarding Kedarnath Dham. He said that this is yet another flop rally of the Pradesh Congress Committee president Karan Mahara as the public and even many Congress leaders are maintaining a distance from it. Despite this, the Congress is adamant to raise unnecessary protest, he said.

Interacting with the media here on Monday, the cabinet minister averred that the Congress’ political rally on the issue of Kedarnath has flopped completely. “Considering the picture emerging even in media reports, it is clear that about 20 to 25 persons are participating in this rally at a time. Earlier, the PCC president had taken out a ‘Nyay Yatra’, which had also flopped. Most of the senior and local Congress leaders are keeping a distance from this rally. Even the leader who was being presented as a hero despite the Lok Sabha election defeat, was absent from his own area during this rally. The Congress leaders are focusing on saving their political base and relevance in the party by taking out a rally projected as one aimed at ‘saving’ Kedarnath Dham. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is right when he says that the Congress should take out a repentance Yatra,” Agrawal said.

He further said that it is very unfortunate that the Congress is so lacking in issues and ideas that it is resorting to using Lord Shiva as a political weapon. Regarding the allegations levelled by the opposition regarding disasters in the State, the cabinet minister questioned which video the Congress is watching before making such claims. “I have myself visited the disaster-affected areas and interacted with the affected villagers, in addition to seeking information from the local administration about the damage caused. The authorities are providing all necessary facilities to the victims in temporary relief camps. The affected families are satisfied with the work done by the government. The claims being made and videos being shown to the contrary are a pack of lies,” the minister added.
