Leaders of the Congress in Roorkee staged a protest against price rise here on Sunday. The Congress members participating in the protest blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party government for the rising inflation in the nation. The party workers sat to protest at Chandrashekhar Chowk in the city as part of the party’s Chaupal programme undertaken to protest against inflation in the nation.
Congress leader Ram Singh Saini blamed the BJP government at the Centre, stating that the party had promised to bring back good days and bringing back black money from abroad. However, the people have been suffering from the effects of GST, shortage of jobs in government sector and promotion of privatisation since the BJP formed its government, he alleged. Congress Mahanagar head Kaleem Khan said that the party is organising its Chaupal programme across the State to protest against price rise. Raj Kumar Saini, Subhash Saini, Ummed Gazi, Sakeel Ahmed, Shyam Singh Nagyan,Bhushan Tyagi and others also participated in the protest.
